PDF forms, a privacy case study
Tax form, rental application, medical declaration: a PDF form asks precisely for the most personal data — identity, income, health. Filling it via an online tool means sending that data to a third party at the very moment you type it.
Local filling happens in your browser: the values you enter never transit through a server.
Open the PDF: interactive fields (text, checkboxes, lists) are detected.
Complete each field — the rendering updates live.
Export: the file keeps its editable fields, or flattened for distribution.
Creating a fillable form
You can also start from a blank or existing PDF and place your own fields — text areas, checkboxes — to produce a form others will fill in their usual PDF reader.
Special case: the “flat” form
Some administrative PDFs are images with no interactive fields. In that case: add text on top in the editor, position, flatten — the result is a clean, completed, frozen document.
No store, no account: a two-click install, double-click to open a PDF, Android share target, and a full offline mode once you have visited the site online once.
