Rotate PDF pages

A scan that came out in landscape instead of portrait, a document whose pages are upside down, a plan inserted sideways in a bundle: rotation fixes the display orientation without touching the content. Pick the angle — 90°, 180° or 270° — and the operation applies to the whole document in seconds. To rotate only certain pages, the “Organize pages” tool lets you turn each thumbnail individually. Rotation modifies a page display attribute, with no re-encoding: quality stays rigorously identical. The most common case remains scanning: document feeders sometimes produce landscape pages while the content is portrait — and everything is processed locally, the file never leaves your device.

FAQ

Can I rotate a single page?

This tool applies rotation to every page of the document. For targeted page-by-page rotation, open the file in “Organize PDF pages” and turn the relevant thumbnails.

Does rotation degrade the document?

No: only the page display angle changes in the PDF structure. Text, images and vectors stay strictly identical.

Is the rotation permanent?

Yes, in the downloaded file — PDF readers will display pages in the new orientation. Your source document is not modified.

Is my PDF sent to be rotated?

No: rewriting the orientation is done by your browser, on your device, with no transfer.

Why do my rotated pages stay sideways in some readers?

Rotation is written into the file the standard way; format-compliant readers display it correctly. If the issue persists, apply “Flatten PDF” to freeze orientation into the rendering.

Does rotation also apply to annotations?

Annotations turn with their page: once rotated, they stay correctly oriented relative to the content.

90° or 270°: which one?

90° turns clockwise, 270° counterclockwise — if the result is not what you expected, start from the original and pick the other direction.

Does rotation apply to the whole document?

Yes — the chosen angle applies to every page at once. To rotate a single page, use “Organize pages”, which lets you turn each thumbnail individually.

Why is my scan sideways in the first place?

Document feeders and phone captures often produce landscape-oriented pages while the content is portrait — or an exporter writes the page box rotated. Rotation corrects the display flag without touching the page content.

A scan tilted by a few degrees — rotate or deskew?

Different problems: rotation fixes full quarter-turns (90°, 180°, 270° — page lying down or upside down); a slight tilt of two or three degrees is corrected by “Deskew a PDF”, which measures the exact angle.

Can I rotate a password-protected PDF?

Not directly: encryption blocks reading the pages. Unlock it first with its password via “Unlock a PDF”, then rotate the copy obtained.

Is my document sent for rotation?

No — the orientation flag is rewritten locally in your browser: a confidential file never leaves your device, and the operation works offline once the page is loaded.

What are the file limits?

One PDF up to 50 MB — the whole document is rewritten in memory in your browser. For a heavier file, split it first, rotate the parts, then merge them back.

Can I rotate several files at once?

Yes — the tool is batch-eligible: in batch mode the same angle applies to every selected file, and you download the rotated PDFs individually or as a ZIP archive.

Does rotation change the page size?

The page box is untouched — the reader simply displays each page turned, so width and height swap visually, not in the file structure. A portrait page rotated 90° displays landscape.

Is rotation slow on a long document?

No — the operation is near-instant even on a few hundred pages: only the orientation attribute of each page is rewritten, never the content streams.

How to proceed

  1. Drop your PDF into the upload area
  2. Choose the rotation angle (90°, 180° or 270°)
  3. Download the PDF with all pages rotated
  4. Check the result page by page if the document mixed orientations
